The Jefferson Amateur Radio Club of Metairie, Louisiana commemorated the 60th Anniversary of D-Day with a Special Event Station located inside the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans, Louisiana. The station used the callsign "W5D" for the event Saturday, June 5 and Sunday, June 6, 2004.

===== 2005 Plans =====

The Jefferson Amateur Radio Club will once again activate the Special Event Callsign W5D. We are scheduled for operations on May 7th and 8th, 2005 for the 60th anniversary of V-E or Victory in Europe Day.

Also, we will once again commorate D-Day and operate W5D from June 4th - 6th, 2005 from the floor of the National D-Day Museum in New Orleans which is also designated as the National WWII Museum by Congress.

We will operate in the "general" portions of the amateur bands on 15, 20 and 40 meters.

QSL cards and certificates for the 2005 operations are available. Send your QSO information along with a 9×12 inch self-addressed, stamped envelope to the address below to receive a special event certificate and QSL card.

For just a QSL card be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped business envelope along with your QSL card and QSO information.
