Ray Crain, KB5GA oversees the rebuilding and testing of the SteppIR antenna. The SteppIR was recently removed from the tower for maintenance.
The SteppIR is a 3 element 20m-6m beam antenna. The photographs represent the motors as they would be installed on the beam. The copper tape is shown extended/retracted into the motor housing. This antenna is capable of operating on six bands on one tower!
The antenna is precisely adjustable in length while on the air and has the ability to tune a specific frequency, without regard for bandwidth, which results in excellent gain.
The antenna should be re-installed on the tower in the next few weeks in time for additional contesting and open house operations.
